Learn to Swim
Preschool Classes - children ages 3 and 4 who are ready to be in the water without a parent and begin learning the fundamentals of swimming
Level 1 – at least 5 years of age, promotes comfort in the water, submerging, floating, breath control and underwater swimming.
Level 2 – for those who have completed the skills in level 1. Goals include swimming independently in the water at least 15 feet on front and back, comfort in deep water, exploration of treading.
Level 3 – for those who have completed the skills in level 2. Goals include swimming front & back crawl at least 45 feet, rhythmic breathing and intro to diving.
Level 4 – for those who have completed the skills in level 3. Goals include swimming front crawl, back crawl, elementary back stroke and intro to breaststroke, butterfly and sidestroke.
Level 5 – for those who have completed the skills in level 4. Goals include swimming proficiently in all strokes, continue diving and a variety of water safety skills
Level 6 – TBA
All classes follow the American Red Cross Learn to Swim guidelines; participants receive a certification card at the mastery of each level.
